Dating back to the 19th century, it commemorates the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday morning. The name comes from the race carried out by the bearers of the platform of the Virgen de la Aurora to meet the image of the Resurrected Christ, to represent the joy at the news of the Lord's resurrection. Thousands of people gather every year in the Plaza de Villanueva to witness the swift race, while the bells ring out from the parish belfry.
